Blacksmith Corporation has announced the availability of BLACKSMITH PATHWAY TO ORACLE solution for Oracle8 on UNIX and NT platforms.
PATHWAY TO ORACLE solves the problem of connecting with or migrating to a Relational database management system like Oracle. PATHWAY eliminates the ODBC layer and maximizes Oracle’s preferred communication interface, giving MultiValue applications an edge in OLTP performance.
PATHWAY allows access to data in an RDBMS from programs expecting a MultiValue database model. PATHWAY performs normalization of MultiValue or nested relational data to provide compatibility with the structure of the target database. Moving data from Oracle, PATHWAY re-maps the data, translating it into a MultiValue structure as expected by the existing application programs.
PATHWAY TO ORACLE is distinguished from other methods of relational integration by eliminating the ODBC middleware as well as eliminating the need to insert SQL statements into the application.
The PATHWAY software released for Oracle8 insulates application programs from the database type, data location and data structure, simplifying applications development and reducing application maintenance cost. The PATHWAY architecture stores database type, data structure and data location in deployment tables independent of the application programs. The clear benefit to MultiValue developers is that, from a single source, applications perform I/O operations with the major relational databases as well as the major MultiValue databases without reengineering. BLACKSMITH PATHWAY TO ORACLE facilitates a complete migration as well as concurrent integration, from a single application.
