ON Corporation has enlisted the help of Blacksmith Corporation to develop a presence for its first product, MVON Oracle, in the MultiValue market. Blacksmith will increase its marketing/sales staff threefold to take on the additional workload, according to Denise Buttrey, VP of Marketing.
Blacksmith’s new market research division, with the help of Oracle Corporation, will be contacting over ten thousand MultiValue user organizations during the six months. According to Brett Stauffer, VP of Sales, the team will search for organizations who are happy with their legacy MultiValue applications and want to also use Oracle and other mainstream database managers. The MVON environment works like UniVerse and other major MultiValue environments, except that the database manager itself is separate. Regardless of the specific flavor of the MVON environment, the files can be a mixture of UniVerse, Oracle, UniData, Pick and others. Organizations can move to the state of database independence simply by recompiling their MultiValue BASIC programs with the MVON BASIC compiler.
ON Corporation will be demonstrating the MVON Oracle product at the International Spectrum Conference, April 1-3 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
